Redshirt freshman nose tackle Ryon Bingham will miss the next 6 to 8 weeks of Husker football due to a stress fracture in his right foot.
The injury has been one that has bothered the a 6-foot-3, 275-pound Sandy, Utah native since earlier this summer. Bingham will wear a cast on his foot for 4-6 weeks.
The loss on Bingham further depletes an offensive linbe already short on player depth. Starting nose tackle Jason Lohr is recovering from a big toe sprain he suffered on the first day of practice. Husker head coach Frank Solich says defensive tackles Jeremy Slechta and Loran Kaiser are learning the nose tackle position.
"We are trying to build depth in that position. We want at least four guys at those two positions who can play." Solich said. "Bingham is in the running for one of those top four positions. Lohr has the experience, having played a lot last year, but needs to get healthy."
