Call Him Congressman/Coach/Dr. Osborne
During his 25-year reign as head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Tom Osborne won 255 games, many of them by a rout.
In Tuesday’s election for Nebraska’s third district congressional seat Osborne won again. This time by a 4 to 1 vote margin.
An impressive win for Osborne comes as no surprise to the man that succeeded him at the University of Nebraska
“He always liked to win big, there’s no question about that.” Joked current Husker head coach Frank Solich as his Tuesday press conference. “But he’s always done it in a nice way.”
The name of democrat challenger Roland Reynolds will join the long list of Iowa State, Kansas, Middle Tennessee State and others that have been humbled by the unassuming man with a no previous political experience and a degree in educational psychology.
"This is really nice," Osborne said at his victory speech, "But now comes the hard part."
Nebraska’s 3rd district covers well over two-thirds of the state geographically, taking in farmland and small towns all the way to the Wyoming border.
